Coupeville Music Boosters
We are truly honored to support our Coupeville Music Boosters. Students who engage in music not only enrich their lives but also tend to perform better academically, achieving higher grades and improved literacy skills. These outcomes are backed by research, and they remind us how vital music education is for our children’s overall success.
And if we say that planting a garden is to beleive in the tomorrow, then giving the gift of music to our kids is investing into our furture and hope for a better tomorrow.
We warmly invite our community to get involved with the Coupeville Music Boosters. You can learn more about their initiatives and events on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/share/g/wmZD6FWmGcLHLZFp/?mibextid=K35XfP. There are countless ways to contribute to this meaningful cause, including making a direct donation at https://donorbox.org/coupeville-music-boosters. Every little bit helps, and together we can foster a love of music that will resonate for years to come.
A Hardware store near you?
Sometime last year Coupeville lost its only hardware store and the community felt the loss. I can tell you I was in that hardware store at least twice a week. Now a quick run to the hardware store takes a 20-minute drive either way, each way. That's an hour of your time just for some screws or a paintbrush. A small town should have a hardware store, don't you think?
“Rain Shadow Nursery & Hardware” has a nice ring to it. Opening Friday, November 15, 2024, Coupeville will get its hardware store back. Sure it will be a small hardware store but we hope it will serve the community well.
We will stock hand tools and painting supplies, some plumbing and electrical repair products, light bulbs and extension cords, nails screws, and other fasteners. And yes we will have duct tape and glue and hopefully everything you might need.
Change is in the air
Not so much change but more like additions to the nursery. In the next month or so we will announce some new things and additions to what we do and sell here at Rain Shadow Nursery.
Can’t say too much right now other then we are hoping to fill a much needed hole in the community. We can also say we are extrealy excited and can’t wait to show you what we have planed. For now we may drop a hit here and there. Fallow us to learn more.
Preparing for winter
It's that time of year again when we start seeing signs of fall. Now is the time to get ahead of the game and start planning what and how to prepare your garden for the upcoming winter. Here is a great article about what should be done. https://kellogggarden.com/blog/gardening/end-of-summer-garden-clean-up/
Kokedama balls?
What the heck is a Kokedama ball? Kokedama (Japanese for "moss ball") is a style of potting up plants in a ball of moss and displaying them in a dish or suspended in the air. The style comes from a centuries-old tradition of exhibiting the exposed root ball of a bonsai specimen on a plate to highlight its elegant root system. As time passed, moss would accumulate on the roots, enhancing the display.
A NEW LOOK
As you know we just bought the nursery a few months ago. And we’ve always said we didn’t want to change much about this beautiful little nursery but we did want to do a little rebranding. This is the new logo and look that local graphic artist Rodrick Gagnon put together for us. Really happy with what he has done for us. If you are a local business and need some branding work Rodricks your guy.
DECK THE HALLS
It’s that time of year. Time to trim the tree and deck the halls. Time to put up the wreaths and hang the garland. We can all use a little Christmas cheer what better way to do that and decorate your home. We have 24” wreaths and 25 foot sections of garland. We have the largest selection of poinsettias and other Christmas plants in Coupeville and low prices. Don’t forget we have a great little gift shop that has wonderful ideas for stocking stuffers and other Christmas gifts. Hope to see you soon
WINTER COLOR
”The Christmas cactus is a very popular houseplant—and for good reason! When they bloom, they produce colorful, tubular flowers in pink or lilac colors. Their beautiful flowers, long bloom time, and easy care requirements make them a wonderful plant. We’ll bet someone in your family has a Christmas cactus!” And you should too -.
